Photography in the summer can be tricky in the rainforest due to harsh, high-contrast light filtering through the canopy. To capture the true essence of 'Summer Greens,' I utilized the soft, diffused light reflected off an overcast cloud layer. This beautiful, indirect illumination eliminates deep shadows, allowing the vibrant greens and the rich, weathered textures of the ancient tree trunks to shine through in perfect balance.

The center tree is visibly leaning to the right, caught in a slow, inevitable tilt that will eventually lead to its collapse and I love this visual tension of this geometric disruption, how long before this giant eventually surrenders to gravity ? North Shore Vancouver, BC, Canada.

The heavy rain finally stops, leaving trees completely drenched. As the cold morning sun breaks through the clouds and light hits the wet bark, columns of thick white mist twist and rise into the crisp air, making the tree look like it is smoking.
